WHAT THE ASSOCIATION DOES

The Prince Albert Ratepayers' & Residents' Association represents local communities and organisations in ensuring that our municipality provides an effective and affordable service.

We work to encourage confidence in Prince Albert's Councillors, the Municipality and its employees by:
    • holding role-players accountable
    • attending public Council meetings
    • being in regular communication with various office bearers
    • convening monthly executive committee meetings 
    • reporting back on important issues that affect our broader community
The main objectives of our Association are inline with the Government's Turnaround Strategy document. 

The document opens with the following statement: "Local Government is a key part of the reconstruction and development effort in our country. The establishment of a South African Developmental State is grounded in the vision of the State and Society working together at all levels to advance social justice, economic growth and development."

With this in mind the main objectives of the PA Ratepayers' & Residents' Association are to:

  • ensure that the Prince Albert Municipality meets the basic needs of everyone in our community by creating an environment that will accelerate quality service delivery. 
  • encourage clean, responsive and accountable local government. Making sure that systems, structures and procedures are developed to deal with maladministration and corruption.
  • ensure that the municipality communicates clearly with, and is fully accountable to, our community.
  • improve performance and professionalism in our municipality by way of guidance, advice and support from community leaders.
  • strengthen partnerships between local government, communities and civil society. Ensuring that communities and development partners are willing to partner with our municipality in the interests of improved service delivery and a better life for everyone in Prince Albert.
